Filming Part 6 : Bath Shoot

Makeup and Location

My Bathroom

Angel Wings

High Angel Shots

Sparkly blue/silver Makeup
Highlight cheeks
Flawless Makeup

Harsh Lighting

I took a lot of high angle shots in this shoot, I wanted the outcome to look angelic and abstract, I had the idea of throwing/hairdrying feathers over the bath and then playing it backwards on the editing suite so that it looks as if the feathers are flying up in the air.
I liked the location because of the light colours and peach bath ,I thought that I would easily be able to lighten this on the editing suite to make it look even more surreal.

Filming Part 5 : Hull Marina (pier) Shoot

For this shoot I wanted to film the girl looking over into the sea, as one of the themes in my video is 'water'. I wanted to take a few different shots of her walking across the marina and up the stairs.
I really liked the location because of the wooden planks on the floor, and open landscape views.

I wanted to change the video takes on the editing suite to black and white as it will look more dreamy or 'in the past'.

Draft 2 of my Music Video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJBjr7KXbGU

I have experimented with various techniques on the editimg suite in this draft.
I have 1 more clip to film of the girl jumping into the lake and walking onto the jeti which is in the process of being filmed this week.

I have found it reasonably hard to order the video because there are so many different scenes. I think that my storyboard will differ tremendously to the final outcome of the Music Video.
However I am becoming more and more pleased with the outcome and enjoying experimenting with the clips using blur effects and mirroring some images, this encorporates the dream like idea into the video.

Filming Part 4 - The beach Scene

Location: Hornsea/Mappleton Beach

 COSTUME

During my AS Textiles Course I had created a sea themed dress for my final piece, I thought that this would be useful for the beach scene.

Because the beach scene represents a dreamlike place and the girl is in the dream at this point, I want the actress to look different and surreal.

Hair: I would like the actresses hair to be long, tangled and plaited almost like a mermaid.

Makeup: I will use the feather lashes on the actress and I have also thought about painting scales on her face as previously illustrated on the mise-en-scene post. I will use a lot of foundation as a base before the makeup to cover any blemishes on the skin and make the actresses face flawless to create a more surreal aspect. I would like the makeup to look  extremely dramatic especially the eyes.
The makeup will reinforce to the audience that the girl is in a dream.

I will also use some body makeup ( gold body glitter) to make the actresss look even more surreal.

Filming Part 3 - Theatre piece

Location: Green Room (College)

Lyrics:
'The arms of the Ocean are carrying me''

My idea for filming some of the video in the green room was influenced from a photographer/artist illustrated above that worked by taking different photos and putting them together. I would like to encorporate this idea into my music video by recreating the image above but using my own photographs and projecting it in the theatre or in the green room at college. The performer will be stood in front of the image miming the lyrics to a part of the song.
I will need to film this in a free at college or after college. I have begun thinking about costume and makeup in this part of the music video.

The actress will be stood on a table wearing floaty material maybe representing waves, and singing the vocals to this part of the song. I would like the mateial to look floaty so i have thought about using a hairdryer to make the piece more realistic like the wind is blowing.

I took this image through a plane window so that the clouds and ocean are visible at the same time.
I think this is a strong image and I like how it looks so magical.

I have tried to recreate the image of the hands and the ocean so that I can project the image onto a screen behind the actress.

I used Photoshop to cut out the background of the hands and layer it ontop of the image of the sky and ocean.

FINAL IMAGE USED ON PROJECTOR:

I realised that the green room was actually the wrong location and decdided that the theatre would create a much stronger performance.

Props

Podium for artist to stand on.
High fashion clothing.- disco pants and crop top.
Red Lipstick.
Yellow Lighting in theatre.
Music device so that Jodie could listen to song whilst singing it to get lyrics correct.

Filming Part 2 - Underwater

For this shoot I wanted to create a 'dreamy' , abstract , surreal collection of shots that I would be able to put together to create an underwater film that would look as if the girl is swimming around underwater for a sufficient period of time. I wanted to capture Jodie from different angles and viewpoints. Also different parts of her body for example, close up of feet so that the video would seem even more abstract.
PROPS
Fake roses/flowers.
Swimming Pool.
Underwater Camera.
Floaty Material to wrap around model.
White leotard for model to wear.
Large fake eyelashes- dramatic Makeup.

Location: Swimming Pool

This image really represents how I would like the general image of the scene to look. I like how dreamy this image is and the floaty material around the model look really effective.

Costume

I decided to put the actress in a leotard for the underwater shoot with floaty material wrapped around as I thought that this would look good underwater because it would create slow movements.

MAKEUP

I wanted the model to have really dramatic bright coloured makeup for the underwater shoot. I knew that the makeup may come off underwater so I tried to layer it on as much as possible.

After filming I wanted to do a lot with the editing suite, for example, layer clips over the top of each other and blur some shots. I had used the gaussian blur tool and really liked this. I also really wanted to capture a lot of the flowers and bring out the rich colours of the flowers dramatically in the video.
