Visualising my Music Video (further detail of ideas)

MISE EN SCENE

Props & Locations

This image is from a series of Photographs by :

Heather Landis- Abyss of the Disheartened
I like how dark this image is. I think that the reflection of the girl in the wter looks fabulous.
I would like to capture the underwater scenes from different angles to give the audience a feel that the girl is somewhat losat in the dreamland.

I like the idea of facing the camera upwards whilst underwater so that the reflection on the top of the water is able to be seen.

I would like the actress to look as if she is dancing underwater, I wil attatch pieces of material to her costume so that the seguence is more mystical.

I like the use of bubblesa in this image.

I will need an underwater camera and swimming pool to shoot parts of my music video. I have looked on Ebay for underwater cameras or camera covers, the prices for these range between £20 and £60 roughly.

BATH

The first part of the music video will consist of the actress being layed in a bath and going under the water, when she closes her eyes she will transport into the dreamworld. Many of the shots will focus on the actresses face, to emphasise emotion on her face. I will have some close up shots of the actresses body parts i.e legs, hands and face in the beginning shot.

As the actress leaves reality to transport into the dreamworld, I will make the bath shot slighly more unrealistic. I have thought about pouring paint into the bath and glitter as she closes her eyes. Representing her moving into her dream.

I am considering placing a bath in a weird location i.e a field or a beach, and contrasting the 2 shots of her in the bathroom and this second location. To reinforce the fact that she is going into a dream. However, this may be difficult as I would need to locate a standing bath that I could use, and transport it to the chosen location.

I will need some closeup shots of my actress underwater in the bath. If she is going to mouth some of the lyrics in the bath, her face will be out of the water but hair in the water.

Location Ideas
Hull Marina - (Boating)
Welton Waters - (Jeti idea)
Hornsea Beach - (Good for windbreaker shots.)
Mapelton Beach - (Slightly more private then Hornsea beach. More Landscape.)

I have thought about getting into the water at the end of the Jeti for one of the shots and capturing the actress just before she dives. This will be from the lakes perspective as if the audience are watching her dive and then the shot will cut and I will film her diving from behind.

I will need to find a Jeti on a beach or lake. I would like to film the actress diving into the water and walking along the jeti. I have thought about matching an underwater shot with this shot so that I can use continuity editing to match the 2 shots and capture the actress diving into the water.

I have discovered that there is actually 2 different locations I could shoot this (in and around hull). One is Welton Waters near Brough and the other is a private lake near Hornsea.

I have looked at shooting parts of the video on Hornsea/Mapelton beach. I would like the shots to look quite dark therefore I would need to film at the right time of day.

I have thought about simply filming some waves, I would again need to shoot at the right time of day when the waves are at their highest.

Costume Influences

VOGUE magazine

Makeup Influences

There are going to be 2 parts to my music video : Reality and the dreamworld. The dreamworld represents the girl escaping from the harsh realities of life, she feels secure and free in this place. I want the Mise-en-scene in the dreamworld to be exaggerated, dramatic and represent her emotions and what she is feeling through colour and atmosphere.

I had the idea of using strong makeup and costume when the catress wakes up in the dreamworld. This makeup will be exaggerated and colourful. Because parts of the song are about the ocean I want this to be a main theme/ motif throughout my video and this will also be illustrated through costume. I am planning on taking a closeup shot of the actress when she wakes up on a beach therefore I thought it would be effective to use colours on the eyes such as green, turqoise and blue to fit in with the sea theme.
I love the feather lash idea because it looks so statement and exotic. I will be experimenting with different types of eyelashes and eye makeup ideas before actually shooting.

COLOUR
FEATHERS
          GLITTER

I thought about drawing eyes onto the actresses eyelids so that when she closes her eyes in the bath this represents her falling into the dreamworld.

I also like this idea of painting an actual piece of scenery onto the eyelid. Using the editing software I thought about merging the eyelid with an screen shot of an actual place and merging the 2 shots so that the eyelids tranform into the place.
